The Beatin’ Path was my slowly-distilled reaction to the events of 9/11, and to the United States government’s response to 9/11.

I wrote Cardboard Country Boy and recorded it (with the help of Rob Chalecki) in 2005, to express my frustration at the daily perpetration of lies and crimes by the Bush administration. It became one of the seeds from which The Beatin’ Path grew.
